At a Glance
I just watched this great music video called At a Glance which was created by Eugene and Birg. Enjoy.
"Eugene and Birg have just finished a videoclip for the Belgian band Sioen! Click here to see the "At a glance" videoclip. What else? Well, we found two Eugene stickers in the Izastikup book, among many many other beauties. Get your hands on the new Modart and Playzine magazines, because Eugene and Louise will be appearing in both of them! Pictures will be online soon." Source.

New Video Blog
I finally spent some time putting together a little video from the clips I’ve shot on my tiny little camera. I dumped all the clips from my camera in a totally random order onto a timeline. Then I made a few edits and voila. I love doing stuff like this. Please enjoy my Summer 2005 Video Blog. ( ~35 MB .mov )
The music is from the Cafe Del Mar CD called Aria3. The song is called Amami.
Enjoy.

The Weakerthans and Constantines Tour
The Weakerthans is one of my favorite bands. I’ve got tickets to see them at the end of the month here in Vancity so I’m pumped. So, who gives a shit you ask? Well if you live in Canada and enjoy this type of music you should attend as well. It’s not too late…Tour dates.

PunkRok Tour
My Buddy Menno is touring with his band The Delegates again. You can follow the tour on their site. Check out this recent post from the road, it’s so punk.
"So it turns out that Jean Claude damn
Van really likes northern quebec. In fact he likes it so much that he
wanted to retire here and he gave us his 5 hours notice in the form of
dropping his tranmission on the side of the highway about 200
kilometers north of quebec city. Funny thing is the van made it to the
show before we did. It pulled into the St.-Fabien punkfest on the back
of a tow truck. We had to hitch hike so we got there a while later. Now
we are stranded in northern quebec and really its not so bad. St-Fabien
has 1200 friendly residents who like to drink coffee and brandy in the
town’s only bar. It took alot of convincing but we finally got Jean
Claude damn van to agree to go back into the USA with us and as i write
this he is in St-Fabien’s only garage getting prepped for major
surgery. Here the snowbanks are still 10 feet high. I have been wearing
the same clothes (yes underwear too) for over a week. There is no hot
water in place we slept last night and i still have no idea where we
might end up tonight. and am being so honest when i say we are having a
damn good time. merci au rocknroll."

I just like the way it sounds.
I’ve always been into hip hop. I just like the way it sounds. What can I say? The first CD I ever owned was Rap Traxx 2 and it was a SAWEET. Does listening to Hip Hop mean I buy into
the culture of violence that represents a certain part of the hip hop scene? No. I just like the sound. My mom hates those "rap punkers" and rightfully so. She hears the swearing and all the BS that surrounds hip hop but she doesn’t just listen. I don’t think she has a Sub that can pound good enough. You know how it is. Or maybe its just a generational thing!?If you want highbrow music you should stick to the classics. Or you can be fascinated by how hip hop has led to entirely new forms of music like mash-ups. DJ Dangermouse took Jay-z’s The Black Album and mixed it with The Beatles White Album to create the Grey Album. The Grey Album (although entirely illegal) is probably one of my favorite albums of all time. Now, without the hip hop influence this album would never have been created. How can you not get into this track?
All I can say is that my simple brain likes a bumpin baseline and a good rhyme now and then. If people are dumb enough to buy into the culture of degrading women and violence then we have more important questions to ask such as: Why are these folks ignorant enough to believe this stuff in the first place?
For me personally it’s like how can you not enjoy this new album by The Game? Just look at the cover, its this huge black dude puttin out the vibe by sittin on some sweet rims. Those aren’t just any rims either, they’re gangster rims of the El Camino/Impala low rider breed. This type of rim gives you tons of street cred. It means you’re most likely carrying a 9mm or a Gatt and you’re ready to do a driveby. He’s also rockin some blingin chains so he must be rockin the big bank roll. The tats he has denotes a high probability of prior incarceration, also adding to his gangster vibe. All of this adds to his image and I think its funny to decode it all. I mean for real though, isn’t this what MTV tells me life’s all about? He who has the biggest/baddest rims you’ve ever seen wins?
I plan on driving a hybrid when I get my next car. Does this mean I don’t buy into the hype? I don’t know what that means or even how its related but I still want spinners on my Prius. I’m gonna lower it too. So watch out Yaletown, I’m gonna be doin drivebys at the local Starfucks. Watch yoself fool.
I was bummed to see my friend Patty’s new car didn’t have spinners on it. All he’s got is a Montreal Canadians license plate and a hoola girl on the dash. What kind of street cred is that going to get you in Compton Patrick?
