John Kerry – The Next President of the United States
John Kerry’s speech last night was moving, inspirational, and suprisingly hawkish. He pretty much took the entire Bush administration to task on every mistake they’ve made. He seemed understandably nervous for the first minute of his speech, but he became comfortable very quickly.
Aside from all the rhetoric I think the most amazing part was that I actually felt something. I can’t remember the last time I felt an emotion apart from anger, frustration, embarrassment, and disapointment when hearing a politician speak!
Favorite Quotes from the speech:
“I will bring back this nation’s time-honored tradition: The United States of America never goes to war because we want to. We only go to war because we have to,”
“Strength is more than tough words,”
“We need to be looked up to and not just feared. The future doesn’t belong to fear; it belongs to freedom.”
“I know there are those who criticize me for seeing complexities — and I do — because some issues just aren’t all that simple. Saying there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq doesn’t make it so. Saying we can fight a war on the cheap doesn’t make it so. And proclaiming mission accomplished certainly doesn’t make it so.”
“I will be a commander-in-chief who will never mislead us into war. I will have a vice-president who will not conduct secret meetings with polluters to rewrite our environmental laws . . . and I will appoint an attorney-general who actually upholds the constitution of the United States.”
You can read the entire speech here.
But enough of the serious business!

Political camps debate impact of ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’
The best quote from this article: As for Republicans, some were trying to figure out how to see the movie without enriching either Moore or the movie’s producers, Harvey and Bob Weinstein.
“To everyone who wants to see ‘Fahrenheit 9/11,’ this is the one time I say break the law,” Curtis Sliwa of WABC Radio said in an interview. “Either buy a bootleg edition or buy a ticket to ‘Shrek 2’ and sneak in to ‘Fahrenheit 9/11.’ Because you don’t want your money to go to those meshugeneh Weinstein brothers or looney kazooney Michael Moore.”
