This photograph was one of those ones where you have to suffer a little bit. I was standing out in the rain getting absolutely drenched. It was actually quite cold at this moment and the wind was just ripping through here. Everyone else had sought refuge inside their vehicles or had gone inside. It paid off though because a rainbow appeared for about 15 seconds and I was the only person in the area at the time who was out and shooting. Just glad I was ready.

Arches National Park is one of the most remarkable places I’ve ever seen. This is a panorama of several photos stitched together. On the last photo of the series I managed to capture a little kid joyously running (lower right).

Every so often you find yourself in a great place with very limited time. This was the case here. I was en route to another destination and I was very short on time. As Theodore Roosevelt said, do what you can, with what you have, where you are. So that’s what I did here. The light was harsh and the sky wasn’t ideal but this is the best I could do. It was shortly after an unusually wet period here so that’s why things are quite green.
