Semacode_2Semacode_tlmI want to go to Japan for a bunch of reasons but mainly because of how advanced they are technologically.  Have you ever even heard of a semacode?  Essentially it’s a visual barcode.  You take a picture of the Semacode with your cameraphone and the phone processes the image and it gives you the URL for something.  For example the image on the left is a semacode for the wikipedia entry on Semacodes.  (so meta)  The image on the right is the Semacode for The Last Minute.

Semacodes allow you to do really cool/nerdy things like hit up a videobooth in Japan and have the videos beamed to your video cell phone automagically.  As seen in this video.  I don’t quite understand the pink fluffy fashion accesories in this video…  [via]

That video is hilarious…and yeah, what the hell are those pink things.

These semacodes sound interesting..how did you get one, and what else can you do?

I featured you in this week’s Vlog Soup.

For some reason when I brought this video into Final Cut Pro, the audio didn’t come along with it, so I had to put in some other music.

They refer to the ‘pink things’ as the MYSQ ‘rings’ – it’s in fact a device to get the camera moving to you (if I understood it correctly). When you move that MYSQ ring quickly in front of the camera, it picks this up as an instruction to move to you.
