  • Feeling a little low

I just realized why I’m not blogging much lately.  I think I’m feeling low because of the Tsunami crisis.  What the hell is worth blogging about when so many people are in trouble?  Aside from my monetary contributions the only thing I did was ensure people got to see the destruction if they wanted to…  100 000 hits later and I’m wondering: Is that a good thing or is it morbid curiosity?  I think the scope of the devastation (as seen in the videos) forces us to realize how incredibly lucky we are.  Not only are we lucky to be relatively wealthy but to have our health and food, let alone all that other crap we own and don’t need.  So guess its a good thing.  Unfortunately I’m %7000 over my Bandwidth limit now…

I guess I’m feeling guilt because many of the people suffering from this disaster were already poor to begin with.  I’m sitting here with all the food I can eat and my health and these people who were already struggling to survive are either dead or in dire straits.  What is worth talking about when that is the case?  If you haven’t already, you should donate some money.  Will you really miss that $20 bucks?

  • LA

I’m sitting on the balcony of the Loews Hotel Beverly Hills sitting as close to the edge as possible to try and get a wifi signal. There are about five wifi signals out here and none inside the room.

My family and I attended the most fascinating/bizarre museum exhibition ever today. The exhibit was called Body Worlds and it was about the anatomy of the human body. They had real bodies (I see dead people) on display in all different types of positions. These dead people allowed their bodies to be used for this purpose when they died. The bodies have their skin removed so that you can see the musculature of the body etc. It was very interesting to see the inside of real human bodies. I couldn’t help but look at all the people around me and think about how their insides are just like mine.

  • 300 000

Stats_1The site clicked over 300 000 unique visitors today.  See lower left hand of the site…  Typepad says 405 000 but I have no idea what the right number is.  It doesn’t really matter because I’m having fun either way.

  • Being Paranoid

Whitehouse_ipRecently I’ve been feeling like hyper paranoid about things.  It started out with a ton of .mil (military servers) hitting up my blog.  Then it was the whitehouse.gov people.  Now its the people trying to change my Gmail passwords.  I’m getting HACKED the government is spying on me!  What should I do?

Turns out my [-watched -too -many -god -damn -spy -movies] paranoia is unfounded.

The .mil guys were just a bunch of dudes kickin it in their dorm at Westpoint in Virginia looking for a music video.  How do I know?  They emailed me after I posted about it.

The housegate6.whitehouse.gov I’m not sure about.  Its most likely just some security guard or some lackey looking for something on google and reaching my site.

The Gmail password requests?  I thought originally peeps be trying to hack me yo.  Is someone trying to steal my identity?  Was my passport stolen?  Or did I just lose it?  Google keeps sending me password change request emails when I never asked to change my password.

Turns out, there are just so many people coming to my website from all over the world looking for Gmail accounts that a few of them try to login using my spam account thelastminute.

Why is this happening?  Most of these people do not speak English.  They reached my website by searching like "how to get a Gmail account" or some other rudimentary search from anywhere in the world.  They get to my site and they see my email address.  They figure out they can probably get into the system somehow using my account.  Then they start randomly clicking on stuff because it’s all in English and they do not read English.  The Gmail page looks to him like this page does to you.  They click on forgot your password and enter my email and I get an email saying you’ve requested to change your password and I get all paranoid and start changing all my 50 bazillion passwords across all my accounts.

In reality its just some kid trying to get a Gmail account and not knowing what she is clicking on.  Why the hell would a government want to monitor what I’m doing anyway?

I guess I should stop being such a paranoid weirdo.  Or should I?

  • The gilrfriend

I guess she’s too shy to post comments.  Maybe if I embarrass her she’ll post a comment now and then.  (Evil laugh)

Yesterday I asked her why she doesn’t comment and she’s like "cause everybody I know looks at the site."

    So I’m like who cares?

And she says she doesn’t want to say anything stupid.

And then I tell her about how I say stupid things everyday and I don’t care.

She goes I don’t want to be pressured into commenting.

I’m like its no big deal I just want to see what you think about all the crap I rant about.

She loses interest and goes back to watching her soap opera that I recorded for her on the PVR.

I can’t compete with these soaps man.

  • Wannabe Canadians part duh

This is what I was ranting about yesterday.

  • slice of (my) life

Yesterday the wife, uh I mean girlfriend says to me:

Girlfriend: "Why did you write V to the P to tha L on your blog?"
    Me: "Because its funny."
Girlfriend: "No its not, it’s stupid. What if someone thinks your serious with your pseudo gangster speak?"
Me: "That’s when it gets funny."
    Girlfriend: "You’re such a loser."
    Me:  "Yes, yes I am."

    Long lost links of note:

The most pathetic Gmail invite giveaway.  So weak.

  • The V to the P to tha L

VplI’ve been hanging out at the Vancouver Public Library for the last few days doing some re to the search.  I’ve been living in Vancouver for a while and I think I’ve really taken that place for granted.  It’s probably the best library I’ve ever been to.  The ratio of connected computers to people is amazing.  Not to mention the architecture and the books man the books!  The VPL is sick.  Nuff said.

I requested a book online yesterday and it was on the shelf inside the door waiting for me today.  All for free.

    Image poached from here.

On another note, I’ve put the Rockin section back up.  You can see what i’m rockin out to these days.  (Lower left)

Postscript: I DON’T HAVE ANY GMAIL INVITES LEFT!  STOP COMMENTING AHHH…

  • Great shot.

    I love this photo.

  • Looking down over the edge of a cliff

I feel as though we’re standing on the edge of a cliff with the current administration drunk with power and ready to push us off with their new agenda.

I’m so incredibly upset and I’m not even an American!

I’m so frustrated that for the last few years I bought into the notion that the average joe has been empowered and more educated by the power of the web. Of course, that now proves to be a naive.

The “young vote” what the hell is wrong with you? Do we have to make voting into a videogame before you get out there and vote? What the hell? The E-voting machines might as well just be video games!

As usual Talking Points Memo has a good write up.

Can you tell I’m a little upset about this?

So upset i’m thinking of giving up on this stupid website.

    Update:

This site will continue! I’m just very upset…

    Update:

    Thanks to the Hicks!
