UPDATE: February 28th 2010
Vancouver wrapped up the Olympics today with one hell of a strong finish. Team Canada won the gold medal in one of the greatest hockey games of all time. Our 14th gold medal put us at the top of the list for most gold medals any country has ever won in the Winter Olympics. We owned the podium!
We’ve been talking/bitching/moaning/worrying about the Olympics for years and now they’ve come to a close. Before we get all bitter and negative about games’ legacy consider how much fun it was. Have you ever felt so connected and excitement in a city in your life?! I will fondly remember this moment in the history of Vancouver for the rest of my life. We can go back to griping about this and that later, when it’s raining and we’re having coffee together. For now, let’s take time to enjoy and be proud of how we hosted the world!
Thank yous!
First thank you to Dorothy Rawlinson. Dorothy has been working tirelessly for 2+ years on the Olympics. She was heavily involved in hiring literally hundreds of people that ended up putting the games together. Obviously she did a remarkable job in her hiring process given the games went so well. I am super proud of you Dorothy. It was a pleasure to support you during this challenging time. It was incredible get an inside glimpse at just how much work goes into a event like this. To look behind the curtain at the sheer scale of this event was mind boggling. From VANOC HQ to the backlots that the general public doesn’t see I really got a sense of just how challenging it has been to pull off. It’s way more work than you’d think. Way more. So thank you sweetheart.
Thank you Nancy for putting our schedule together and being so organized! Thank you to @airwaves1 for all the tickets etc!!!
Thank you Team Canada! Thank you Jon Montgomery for being so charismatic! You couldn’t have represented Canada any better.
Thank you to all the local photographers, videographers, and bloggers who kept us all informed and engaged.
Thank you True North Media House for the bringing the local media together in an organized and yet decentralized fashion. I had nothing to do with #tnmh but I tagged some stuff and hope I added some value. #tnmh and #van2010 we’re arguably the best sources of Olympics information and media that we’re available during the games.

Duncan, Thanks for posting the wonderful Olympic pictures. We vacationed in Vancouver and Whistler this past summer and had one fabulous week in your marvelous city! I have been a web cam follower of yours for about a year. It has kept the memories of our vacation alive. Keep the pictures and stream videos coming. A big fan following you on twitter and the web cam from San Antonio Texas.
Your pictures are stunning!
Great pictures! Makes me feel I was there with you. Looking forward to joining the festivities when I return to Vancouver this week. Go Canada!

Incredible! Thank you for sharing (and to Lee for tweeting them).
Thanks for sharing these incredible photos. What an awesome & unprecedened display of patriotism. After these Olympics, I've never been prouder to be Canadian.
I missed most of the games unfortunately (except the hockey last night), so I'm extrenely grateful for the opportunity to view your photos which, by the way are far better than most we have had in the UK press. Well done! I feel I've had at least the visual experience now. I love Vancouver and was 'place' spotting! Once again, great pics, & thanks. I'll be RT'ing this link on my Twitter page ;0)
Thanks! I will be posting more photos shortly I'm processing about 2000 photos now!!

I'm Canadian what do you expect?! ;)
I'm late to the party but wanted to express how much I enjoyed viewing your images. Nice to get a real personal view of the Olympic spirit. Still smarting from the USA loss but I have to admit, it was an epic game. I got chills when the entire stadium sang Oh Canada during the medal ceremony. Great moment… :)
I'm glad you liked the images. It was an epic game for sure.
Stunning. Gorgeous. Takes me back. Best I've seen. Thank you.

I'd like to buy an antler head band like the one shown in one of the pictures here, and also the maple leaf shaped wings
worn by some on-stage performers ( dancers?). My 10 year old daughter likes these 2 items.
Any one selling or know where to buy these? Pls. e-mail : isaganimedina@yahoo.com
