Coral Cathedral II

Coral Cathedral II

Duncan Rawlinson made Coral Cathedral II with artificial intelligence, and it is the second of three pieces in the Coral Cathedral series. A lone figure walks across pale, sparse ground toward a structure that rises many times their height. The form shifts from coral pink at its base to turquoise at its crown, its surface covered in organic perforations and vertical ridges. Tall open arches cut through the centre, and narrow spires reach up into a soft pink sky. Fog hides where the legs meet the ground, which makes the whole cathedral seem to float. The empty setting and the single human presence give the architecture its monumental scale.
