This is a pump at the docks in Kingston and I like the way it looks. Objects that are entirely engineered to perform a specific function can be visually interesting.

The distortion of my relatively wide angle lens made this vehicle appear as though it was a smiling face. I also enjoy the reflections in this photo.

Mile 13 Monument Valley
Every so often you find yourself in a great place with very limited time. This was the case here. I was en route to another destination and I was very short on time. As Theodore Roosevelt said, do what you can, with what you have, where you are. So that’s what I did here. The light was harsh and the sky wasn’t ideal but this is the best I could do. It was shortly after an unusually wet period here so that’s why things are quite green.

Orange And Green
This is one of those moments where you’re just casually strolling along something catches your eye. You notice something. Something in the back of your mind picks up on the fact that the colors of that cab match the colors of this ugly old building. You have about 3 seconds to set your settings and compose your image.
In this case I was trying to line up the vehicle perfectly in the center of the building whilst maintaining a little motion blur. I failed to line it up perfectly because the driver was going much faster than I thought.
I should have expected this because cab drivers in Toronto drive like dicks. I still like the image however imperfect. I always try to make each photo as good as it can be. Over time this strategy actually works well because when you stop trying for perfection and aim for good eventually you get a few winners. Perfection is illusive.

Downtown Beaver
You may find this hard to believe but I shot this right downtown Toronto. In a large city with millions of people you can still shoot wildlife. I only had one prime 85mm lens on me at the time so I was climbing into the bushes to shoot this. I think it was worth it. I like how you can see him munching here.
