Here are my Burning Man 2016 Photos!

This is my annual gift to the Burning Man community.

All of my Burning Man images are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial license. That just means if you share them you must attribute the photographs to me by name and link to Duncan.co Also that you can’t sell them.

The more time you spend at Burning Man the more you realize a fulfilling Burn is one where you just work your ass off for other Burners. That was the case here. I spent my burn making these photographs for you. I do this for the Burning Man community so this is a very loose edit. I shot just under 11000 photos this year.

If you know the name of a piece of art or have a better caption please comment at the very bottom of this post or email me and I’ll update it.

I really loved how this mutant vehicle (name unknown) had a flowing bouncy organic feel to it. As people dance on it the whole thing feels alive and flowing. The lights on top move and bounce around. Not sure what it’s called but it’s great.

I approached these women from the front on my bike. I said “Hey can I take your picture!” like I always do. One of them said “ok!”. I dismounted my bike and they literally just walked away completely ignoring me. I biked back over to them and said “You know, that was really disrespectful. Have a happy burn!” Not a good feeling when you’re out working hard to make photographs for other burners… Just wow.

Sonic Runway by Rob Jensen and Sonic Runway Team (I decided to climb onto the Rhino Mutant Vehicle to try to make the photo work. Only problem was the vibrations from the incredibly loud music / bass made it impossible to get a perfect image. Look at the rings and you can see how much everything was vibrating here. I had all my weight leaning on the tripod to dampen the vibration to not avail. Always fun to try and figure it out though!)

I’ve tried to photograph this phenomenon before to no avail. At specific angle all of the reflective objects int he city bounce sunlight back at you and the city looks like its covered in little red gems/diamonds. This photo doesn’t do it justice.

Also, I’d like to take a minute to thank Scott London. Scott is by far my favourite Burning Man photographer. It was Scott’s photographs that inspired me to go to Burning Man in the first place. Scott and I finally had a chance to spend some time together IRL this year. Having been a huge fan of Scott’s work for years it was an honour and a pleasure to spend time with him. Even better to find out he’s a really great guy. After Scott and I met up we bumped into each other at different locations on the playa at least 7 times totally randomly. One time our paths literally crossed on bikes in motion. I’ve never had that happen with anyone else out there. Every time I ran into Scott he was hustling make his great images. Nice to know he has to really work hard at it too. If you’re reading this Scott, thank you. I appreciate the images and the work.
