Backlit Oak in Rural Ontario

Backlit Oak in Rural Ontario

Shot by Duncan Rawlinson. Duncan Radwlinson photographed this rural scene in the 1000 Islands region of Ontario, Canada. A solitary oak occupies the center of a green pasture, its branches spreading wide as late-day sun filters through the canopy. Large boulders anchor the foreground, remnants of glacial geology common to this farmland. The sky holds soft clouds tinted with peach and cream, while a line of distant trees marks the far edge of the field. The high dynamic range processing reveals detail in both the shadowed trunk and the lit foliage, preserving the natural tones of grass, stone, and wood. This photograph shows the Ontario countryside where open fields meet wooded edges under changing light.
