A hush settles over this remote forest in the Thousand Islands region of Ontario, Canada, where heavy snow drapes every branch and blankets the steep drop-off below. The bare hardwood trees form a dense lattice of dark lines against the soft white of freshly fallen snow. This untouched snowscape, absent of any human presence, exudes quiet tension and stark beauty. The steep ledge interrupts the otherwise gentle winter rhythm, adding drama to an otherwise peaceful setting. This photograph was shot by Duncan Rawlinson.
