Spring Fog at Grenier Island

Spring Fog at Grenier Island

Duncan Rawlinson photographed this aerial view of Grenier Island Country Club on a spring morning in the 1000 Islands region of Ontario, Canada. Thick fog blankets the Saint Lawrence River, wrapping the golf course fairways and surrounding islands in soft, cool mist. Early morning light touches the tops of mature trees, bringing out spring greens and yellows among the evergreens and deciduous canopy. A small white building sits near the waterline, partially obscured by fog. The mist spreads across multiple islands receding into the distance, blurring the line between water and sky. Cool gray tones of the river fog contrast with the warm colors of awakening vegetation, capturing weather and landform in this storied archipelago.
